Speaker series: Climate change

December 18, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Most people are aware that climate change is real and that it’s an important concern. If this is the case, then why don’t we see dramatic life-changing behavior?

Hanna Nielsen will look at the psychology that keeps people from responding to climate change and ask what we can do as citizens to connect with our community, engage others, and start a dialogue addressing the problem. Nielsen’s lecture will provide a framework to look honestly at what holds us back so that we can turn inaction into action.

Neilsen recently finished an assignment as a CivicSpark Americorps fellow working with local governmental agencies to mitigate and prepare for climate change. Her talk at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center is sponsored by Friends of the Arcata Marsh as part of FOAM’s monthly speaker series. Call 707-826-2359 for more information or to guarantee a seat.
