FOAM publishes a quarterly newsletter, UPWIND, that is sent to all members in good standing. Complimentary copies are sent to visitors who sign the interpretive center logbook, volunteers, schools, and other entities. Sue Leskiw has served as editor since fall 1998.
FOAM makes available free copies of a list of plants found at the Marsh. This publication was updated in 2013 by Rich Ridenhour.
In 2011, FOAM received a grant from the Hansen Family Fund to create, print, and distribute a brochure listing areas for dog-owners to legally take their dogs off-leash. In December 2012, FOAM used funding from the Bureau of Land Management's Arcata office to print a 13" x 19" full-color poster based on the brochure. The poster incorporated a map of Humboldt locations where dogs can and can't be taken off leash that had been created by Friends of the Dunes. Plans are in the works to use the remaining BLM money to film a public service announcement about keeping dogs on leash.
In November 2011, Board member Janet Zich started a FOAM Facebook page. It is located at www.facebook.com/friends.of.the.arcata.marsh
In 2013, Leslie Anderson, Jenny Hanson, Rich Ridenhour, and Sue Leskiw began working on a Common Plants of the Arcata Marsh book (with photos and text on 100 or so species), to serve as a companion to the Burton-Fix-Anderson bird book. It should be available in spring 2014.
The following FOAM merchandise is offered for sale at the interpretive center:
